Hello and good day to all. I have a black female short haired cat, about 3 years old now. Now I have a question, when I pet her down her full body to her tail, i get a huge clump of hair in the palm of my hand. I just brushed her a few hours ago, loads and loads of hair was stuck in the brush. Every single time i brushed her, I'd get huge clumps. Is this normal for a short haired cat?

  1. Yes, it is normal. Especially in hot weather. Continue to brush your cat. You are doing great!

  2. yes, my domestic short haired cat sheds by the boatload

  3. All cats shed a lot.  Indeed, all furry creatures shed a lot.

  4. Yes, I have a white short haired cat that is the same way. I can brush her forever (and end up with a clump of fur that looks like I made another cat!!) but she still loses more fur as soon as I pet her. I don't know, there may be a kind of food out there that helps this problem, but I just deal with it. I vacuum a lot and don't wear any blacks clothes!

  5. Did she shed a lot before?  Sometimes if cats are stressed they will lose more hair. Anything change around the house? new pet? new partner? any type of change that could have upset the cat?

I just recently moved, and my cat that sheds a little started shedding tuns ...3 weeks have gone by and it is now back to normal.. now that he is used to his new environment

  6. Yes. All cats shed. However if the shedding is excessive you might want to consider if your cat is stressed out.. There are lots of things that can stress out a cat and cause them to shed more. For example going to the vet, a move, adding another pet to your home or really any changes in their environments.

  7. yes. i have 5 cats. 3 long haired males and 2 short haired females. when i pet the males barley any fur comes out. but when i scratch the females loads of fur comes out.
