Question:

Is it normal for teeth to hurt this long after being filled?

I had some cavities filled 2 months ago. The couple in the back were really deep and there were a couple small ones up front. They filled the front ones with the white composite stuff and the back ones are the silver fillings. My problem is that my teeth have been super sensitive and painful. It doesn't matter if its hot or cold or soft food or hard food. Anything and everything hurts. Even breathing air makes my front teeth hurt. It has been 2 months! How can this be normal.

By the way i did go back to the dentist a couple weeks ago and he checked my fillings and teeth and said everything looked ok. He didnt do x-rays though. I have been using a toothpaste for sensitivity and its not helping at all.

I have a decent pain tolerance and this is beyond bearable. I can barely eat or drink anything. :( Anyone have any suggestions?

  1. you might need Root canal on these teeth since you said the cavities were deep. however, it is too soon to tell. if indeed, the pulp is injured, it will sometime for anything radiographically evident to develop. so for now, prob. the best thing to do, is too wait. most ppl do have sensitivity after fillings done.

  2. you need to redo the fillings. Air had got trapped in the fillings & micro leakage.
