Is it normal for the trans-axle oil to leak out when the half shafts are pulled?

Yes, I always replace the seals before I put the new shafts in to make sure it does not become a source of leakage after the new shafts are in.

The seals don't come in the box with the new shafts so you have to buy them separately.

it is normal to loose a little fluid like that. this little bit of fluid is how some of the stuff gets lubricated.

it should,nt leak. there,s a seal there. if it leaks, then the seal is probably bad, besides the fluid should be laying in the pan.
