Is it normal to be 20 years old and still find yourself a little confused about what you want in life?

I'm talking about myself right now. I'm suddenly finding myself confused about what direction I want to take my life in and I've never felt this way before until recently discovering a lot of what I do not want and actually have been doing all this time. So I know what it is that I DO want to do, I just don't know what direction to go in with it.

Is this normal or pathetic? Because I'm feeling a little pathetic about this.

  1. Yes,  it is normal.

Being 20 years old is still a very young age to be very definite in plans and directions in life.

Please don't dwell on this because the more you think about it,   the more you'll become confused.

In the meantime,   just enjoy your beautiful life now,   and before you know it,   you'll find what you have been looking for in life.

  2. pick a direction and start walking or you'll not get anywhere by 30

  3. That part of your brain is not developed until age 25 at the earliest.

  4. yes its normal my friend is 23 and he doesnt know either what he wants

  5. I'm in my 20s too and going through the same thing right now. I just finished school and am getting ready to enter the work world. It's scary because I still don't know what I want to do with my life. A part of me wants to run away from the real world and go back to school and stay a student forever. But I know that I have to eventually face reality and get a job. It's absolutely terrifying, not knowing if I'll ever find a career that I am passionate about, or whether or not I am making the right choices. I'm so scared, but knowing that there are other people out there who feel the same way makes me feel better. So I guess what I'm trying to say is that what you are feeling is completely normal. Take your time and explore life. Eventually you will find something that you are passionate about. And when you find that dream career don't let anybody stop you from pursuing it. I wish you the best of luck! :)

  6. It's normal.

  7. I felt the same way at your age and as far as I can tell, it is very common. Just some advice for you if you value education at all..... don't let your confusion get in the way of school... just major in something or you will waste time and end up being a 23-y/o college junior like me :(

  8. This is absolutely normal, we all go through these stages of not quite knowing which path or direction to take at some stages in life. I am going through this kind of stage right now. Sometimes as one chapter ends, it takes a while for the new one to begin,, dont lose heart, i'm sure the answer will come to you soon...

  9. it is normal to not know what you want in life exactly because the world changes and your mind will naturally adapt to the change. there will always be something you think is better, but it is when you stick to what you're truly passionate about that'll get you anywhere closer to realizing what you really want to be doing in life.

  10. Yes it is totally. I am 26 and enjoy what I am doing right now plan on doing it for a while but still don't know what i want to be when I "grow up". Thing are different now from when my parents where my age. At 26 they were married had a house, 2 babies. So at 20 not knowing what you want to do normal.

  11. i would say its totally normal, when im 20 i will be a junior in college (im 17 now) but i feel totally lost right now. I have no idea what i want to study, or where i want to live, i dont know how to start my life, a family. I just dont get how people randomly have good jobs and money and nice houses and stuff, I really dont get how one day someone know everything they want to do. I have no idea
