Is it normal to be slightly red after 5 minutes of tanning at my first tanning salon visit?

  2. yes it means you have a fair skin tone or are sensitive to the uv rays, be careful and apply the tanning lotion right before you tan, not before you drive there or anything like that. wait til you are no longer pink at all before going back and do the same amount of time, if you are ok the second time, increase by one minute, an so on.

    Not only am I a red head that has been tanning since 1987, I have made my fair share of mistakes with tanning.  I also worked for 2 tanning salons.

    You must must start off slow, do the five minutes at every other day, then move to six, then seven and so on.  DO NOT rush this process because if you burn, you need to wait at least a week and then start all over again.  Do not rush this process, the outcome will be worth it in the long run to be patient.
