Is it normal to be so worried about leaving School?

When I go back to school in 4 days time I'll start year 11, and it'll be my last year. There are lots of reasons why I don't want to leave, miss seeing my friends everyday, like the routine, like most of my teachers etc. But the main reason is because I have no idea what I want to do. School is so easy because I don't make many choices and I get told what to do. I know I sound like I'm the sort of person who cant make decisions for themselves, and needs to rely on everybody else to sort them out, but I'm not. It's just there are so many things I COULD do, I just not sure which one I really WANT to. I don't want to make the wrong choice and end up regretting it.

Somebody please help me, what should I do?

  1. The lucky few know exactly what they want to do, but most have no real idea, so you're not alone. The best thing to do when you don't really have an idea, is to continue in further education, working on the subjects for which you have the most aptitude. Start looking at the qualifications needed for the types of employment  that seem best suited to your abilities, and self-knowledge will grow from there.  The worst thing you could do would be to leave full-time education with no real qualifications; it's a tough world out there and the competition for worthwhile jobs is fierce, so make sure you have what's necessary, otherwise you may never find job satisfaction!  Education is never wasted.

  4. Yes it is normal.  Trying to figure out what you want to do is not easy.  You can always enter college as undeclared and start off with the classes that are basic and required.  This will give you some time to think about what it is you want to do.  Something you take in college my trigger an interest and help you decide what it is you want.  Don't worry you will figure it out.  I am sure you are not the only one who doesnt know exactly what they want.  Good Luck!!

  5. It's normal yes, but all part of growing up.

  6. school is such a safe fun place and you often don't realize it till you leave but looks like your releasing it early lol

if you love the school environment then 6th form is for you , its very smiler to school , now i loved school but i wanted more Independence so i want to collage

  7. its perfectly normal your thinking all the changes in life after school colledge university it can be a quite worring procces but u will get over im like i always youster relie on my freinds decisions but as after year 11 your basicaly an adult so thats when u star to be independant

  8. Don't worry. You still have plenty of time to make your choices.

I did not know what I wanted to study until the beginning of my senior year, and I didn't decide where I wanted to go to college until December. It turned out that the choices I ended up making were the right ones for me.

My advice would be to make decisions where you have a bit of room to change your mind. If you decide to go to college, pick a school with a lot of different areas of study. Add a double major or a minor or two. If you decide to find a job instead of college, at least take a couple classes at a community college so that you still have an "in" with your academics.

Don't be like my sister who wants to study music (she thinks) and then go to a school where the only thing she can study is music...even though she doesn't know what she wants to do with a music degree.

    Good luck! :]

  9. Rosie, it's totally normal. I've left school now, I left this year anyway and I miss all my friends and my school etc. It's normal to think you don't know what you want to do. Theres thousands of young people, maybe even older people that don't know what to do since or when they leave school.

I know what I want to do, in the mid of my year 11.

If you want to keep in contact with your friends, get msn or get their msn. Talk to them and meet up etc.

If you feel like your going to miss your teachers, stay on Sixth Form (UK). Thats what I am doing when I go back to school/college.
