Is it normal that I do this? .....

I constantly compare myself to my husband's sister and mom. His sister is 5'1 and 124 lbs. She doesn't look too fat (she has a bit of a belly on her) but her BMI is close to over weight. My husband's mom is 5'3 and says she's 130 lbs. I'm 5'6 and 119 lbs. I weigh less than both of them, and I'm considerably taller.

Every time my husband gets into a fight with me, he says that I'm a fat @ss. This just fuels my fire because I know his family's "specs" and I fire back, saying that his mother and sister are fatter than I am. He gets upset and says I shouldn't talk about them.

I keep comparing myself to the closest females in my life because I feel the need to have my weight validated. I had a baby last year and I lost a considerable amount of weight so anyone calling me fat makes me angry so I prove that I'm not as fat as someone else.

  1. well, if you're 13, or 18 yes.

    above that, no.

  2. Wow. I don't think it's normal but you probably hurt him talking about his family like that. Even though he knows it's true, it hurts him that you brought them up in an argument. So you should be a little more considerate. But 119 lbs is very skinny. =]
