  1. It is normal to experience different symptoms while quitting smoking. Your body is so dependent on the fulfillment that is going through withdrawals. I would take it easy, and if you feel dizzy...sit down or take a small nap. Congratulations and Good Luck!

  2. You are going through nicotine withdrawals. If you quit cold turkey, that's why. That's why the best way to quit is to cut back slowly. That way you avoid those kind of symptoms, plus cold turkey could always sends you back to smoking too.

  3. i agree with Sarah, take it slowly, even when getting up out of bed do it a bit slower and when just standing up from a chair,

i have been reading up on everything i can find about side effects of stopping smoking as i have just quit myself, and i am now on my fourth day!!!!!! i am 36 and have smoked since i was 16 so that was 20 years of stupidity!! And if i can do it anyone can!

I tried once before to stop but didnt manage more than 24 hours and i only felt dizzy when i smoked after that 24 hour gap.

Side effects i have read about are dizziness, depression, palpatations, weight gain, panic attacks, beeing iritable, mouth ulcers, coughing for a few weeks.

so far i have been lucky and not had too many cravings and i only felt lightheaded in the first 24 hours but everyone is different, i was smoking around 10 per day.

Are you on any sort of nicotine replacement therapy?? I have been chewing nicotine gum at the times when i would normally have smoked, first thing in the morning, and after eating lunch and supper and so far it seems to be working.

Good luck and i hope you manage to quit for good. If you want a "quitting buddy" lindajane1971@aol.com

  4. Yes it is. My husband quit a few years ago, and he had dizzy spells on and off for quite a while. Congratulations on trying to quit. My husband smoked for 35 years, and he was able to do it ( which shocked me ). Good Luck to you :-)

  5. Congrats and don't give up!!! You will feel better soon...so much better than when you were smoking.  Good for you!

  6. Your body will be adjusting to the fact it is no longer inhaling cigarette smoke. It is all perfectly natural and usually nothing to worry about. If the dizziness continues over the next few days it is advisable to go see a doctor.

There are no real negative side effects to quitting, only positive ones. The longer you have stayed smoke free the easier the quitting process becomes. You have made the right choice, believe you can quit and you will.
