Is it normal to feel like this?

So in my small city, there's only one high school. It serves all of our city's middle school kids after 8th grade. Besides the alternative High School. Which is for Juniors and up. But only like 80 kids go there. They're building a 9th grade academy and it will probably be finished by the 2009-2010 school year(I'll be a freshman that year). I was looking forward to going to the bigger high school. But now I'm disappointed to be going to a school for only 9th graders. Is this normal?

  1. Yeah. I would be disappointed, too. With only one grade in one school, you'll have no opportunity to meet anyone new. Maybe there's a way you can go to te bigger high school.

I live in a small city, too. Well, actually you can't call it a city...its more like a town. We have one elementary school (preschool-2), one intermediate school (3-5), one middle school (6-8) and one high school  (9-12)

So, yea....I would be disappointed, too. Definitely normal...

  2. Well, is it normal to feel that way? Yes

Our school system sounds very similar to yours. One highschool, and last year they just built a 9th grade academy. I've asked a lot of people, and most of them thought that it was unfair.

I feel like I will be losing a year of my highschool experience.

But, a lot of people are saying that they're going to add on more to it, and then it will become the new highschool.

So just wait and see what happens. I'm going into 8th grade, so I haven't personally experienced it yet, but I don't think it will be much fun.

    Good luck! Cheers!

  3. I would be a little disappointed since I think having all 4 grades together is the ideal high school experience.

  4. Well, first of all sweetie, any feeling is ok to feel. Second of all, yes. It's fine to be feeling the way you feel. I mean, I'm a sophmore this year, and I know I'd feel weird if I went where you were going. It sounds freaky and different and that might be what's scaring you.

Plus, since you were looking forward to doing sports, that may be irratating you a lot, right? Personally I don't do sports but I have a lot of friends who are into it, and I know for sure that they'd be for dissapointed if our school didn;t have sports.

I went to a school that had forty kids in the entire school.........that was from kindergarden to middleschool in 1 school. So, I know how you feel. I had five kids in my grade and it got lonly and it was strange. I went from being in 6th grade, where I had over 200 kids in my grade and over 900 kids in the entire school, to really low amounts of people in the entire school that's linked to an elementary school! I mean, come on! Geez!

I hope I helped dear. School is scary, and it will be your freshman year. Freshman year was very scary for me. I was a reject and no body liked me. But I found people like me in hidden are'a's you know? you always find friends. For the third day of school I thought it was cool to paint my face with charcol. I walked around school liek that, and let me tell you. It wasn't, "cool".

  5. its normal to be disapointed....but not normal to hav elike 20 schools for 4 grades! We have 1 school for elmentry(1-4) , 1 school for 5-6, a school fo 7-8, and then a highschool...9-12!

  6. Hey, I know what you are talking about. Our high school serves all students after eighth grade and there is only one high school. My high school has only like 100 people that goes there. The town I live in is not small either. THe bad thing about it is, there is  a freshmen academy(9th grade). I really do not want to just be hanging out with ninth graders!

I could say it is normal because all the schools around me and towns have academys, more so of freshmen academys. I know alot of people that hate it also.
