a lot of times, when i look at paintings or sculptures I start feeling somewhat...hm, sad? it's because of the emotions behind it, or in it. is that normal or am i overly sensitive. of course i'm not talking about happy paintings or sculptures. thanx

  1. I do the same thing. I'm pretty sure this is normal. You see whatever you want to see in the painting and a lot of times it brings out certain emotions.

I'm pretty sure this is actually a very healthy response to have. =)

Unless you start feeling like suicidal from looking at paintings or sculptures, in which case, I'd seek therapy of some kind.

    Hope I helped =)

  2. I think most art is made to evoke some kind of heightened emotional response in the viewer, either happiness, sadness, horror, surprise or whatever. If the only response is boredom, that is probably unintentional. It is normal to feel sadness when looking at some art especially when you don't feel that way when looking at happy art work.
