Is it normal to get your period with an HCG Level of 8?

On (Tues) 2 weeks ago, I went to the doctor to get my levels checked and my HCG Level was at 8. He then told me to go back and take another one (last week) and I am still waiting on the results. Well, today, AF came and I am not sure if it is a true period. Should I be worried???? or no???

It is light spotting, but I have all the symptoms and my husband and I have not been trying to conceive.

I want it to be, but do not want to get overworked.....and excited to TTC again....

Has this happened to anyone???

  1. Normal HCG levels for a woman who is not pregnant is 0-5. The only way to get a HCG level of 8 is if you are on hormones or getting progesterone shots or if you were indeed pregnant. If you are not on hormones, then maybe you were pregnant and miscarried? Most women who miscarry do so before they even know they are pregnant. They will get what they think is their period when it turns out they were actually pregnant. It would explain the HCG level being at 8. If your blood work shows your levels are doubling then your doctor will most likely order an ultrasound since spotting in pregnancy is common but not normal by any means. Good luck and I hope everything is fine.

  2. i would wait for the results, but if your AF showed up maybe you just had a late period
