its acceptable but wouldent be the norm if you want to socialise without drinking i dont understand why people would choose a bar.

I would say no. My sister did this to me last wednesday, she got me so0o0o excited about going out that night, and when we got there she decided to NOT DRINK. wtf? Her reason? There were 2 many people there, and she felt "uncomfortable" [[she hadnt been out in years]] AND to top that all off,I still drove us from bar to bar!! lol.

There's no law stating you have to drink when you go to a bar. Granted, it isn't seen every day, but I'm sure it's seen.

If you want to go to a bar and hang out, go for it. At least you won't get arrested for driving drunk, and you'll be less likely to be involved in an alcohol related accident.

yeah....a bar isnt just meant for drinking, its a social environment where people get together and chat play pool darts and listen to music...ive gone a few times just to get out and talk to people and play pool. didnt drink a drop...

Well, if you're with a group of people it isn't a big deal. Usually it's polite to at least get a non-alcoholic beverage. If you want to go to a bar by yourself but don't want to drink... then don't go to a bar!

Many non-drinkers in bars are often the designated drivers; some bars even give you free sodas and such to say thanks for the sacrifice.  

Then there are some bar flies who often in bars to buy drinks for others, most often for a potential mate, for the chance of a one-night stand.

To answer your question, yes it's normal; non-drinkers are not alienated and you shouldn't feel uncomfortable.

Yeah a lot more people are doing it just to hang with friends and shoot the S**t, and some people are doing it just to pick up one nighters!
