Is it normal to have a pet squirrel?

The guy in this video is one of my contacts on current.com. It turns out that he has a pet squirrel, which I find completely bizzare. I don't think I've ever heard of anyone have a pet squirrel before. I always though they were kind of dangerous. Is this normal?

There are actually some people that own or breed pet squirrels. Certainly not many people do it, but some do.

My friend has a pet squirrel but it's really still wild I guess. They found it abandoned as a baby and he trained her to stay close by. She lives outside.

There was a squirrel that always came to my house so I basically called it my pet. It would come in and sit on my lap and eat haha, I named it Theodore.. and then 4 other squirrels came. So I think it's pretty normal.

He most likely found it as a baby and decided to make a pet of it.  

When it gets sexually mature it will bite him and he will either kill it or let it go.

I have a pet squirrel, too. I have had her for almost three years, now.

I have written much more than that about her. She is an extremely affectionate animal to me and my son. Though, she hates my husband. It is no fault of his own. It is normal for captive squirrels to pick one, or in my case two, people to be attached to.

A squirrel is a really cool pet so if it is not normal it is better than normal.
