Is it normal to have conversations with people (in your head) that you know but are not around at the time?

I am just afraid that I might have something else wrong with me. When I do talk to these peeps (in my head) that I know. I will hear a regular conversation back from them (like in real life). When I reply, it is outloud, usually when I am by myself but now recently it is starting to happen around my friends as well or when I am on the phone with other people. I just want to give thanks to anyone who will give any kind of input on this. All aspects are GREATLY appreciated!

  1. yes.. because you know they are not there then its technically daydreaming.. i do it like everyday

  2. I think we all do this.. it's a form of "self discusion".

I have one in particular that I have HUGE confrontations with, because there is a lot built up that I would love to tell her.. but have no way to do it.

You have a problem when you start believing someone is there that isn't.

  3. It depends on who you ask.  My friend says that I talk to my "invisible friend" sometimes, and perhaps I do, but usually only when HE (my friend) is ignoring me.  He makes fun of me, and says stuff like: "do you always talk to your little friend" and I say "No, only when YOU ignore me.

I never had an invisible friend when I was a child.  My sister DID have one.  I don't really have one.  When I talk, I'm talking to my SELF, and if you are not your own friend, then why talk to anyone?

I'm smarter than most idiots, so talking to my SELF makes a heck of a lot more sense than talking to boneheads.

That is my opinion.  Therefore, it is FUN to pretend I'm speaking to an invisible friend!!!!

  4. I just asked basicly the same question but i have a tendancy to think out loud when i do this lol

  5. Sure it's normal... I'll bet a ton of people do that... including myself !!

  6. yes. you know they arent real. that already gives u peace of  mind you arent hallucinating and such

  7. some times. but I know people who don't do this. I think they have strong mental strength.
