Is it normal to have gallstone attacks 2 years after your gallbladder is removed???

I had my gall bladder removed almost 2 years ago after suffering from gallstones for a year. In the past few months have had attacks that feel just like the attacks I had before I had my gallbladder removed. Is it possible that having my gallbladder removed did not help me one bit?? I am scared.

  1. First, let me say that I am not a doctor, have not attended medical school and cannot diagnose or treat any ailment.

That said, I was watching a program on TV this morning about a lady who had both her gall bladder and her appendix removed and still had severe abdominal pain and vomitting. It turned out she had an Odi gland malfunction. I may not have spelled Odi correctly, but go see your doctor and ask about it. Repairing it is a very simple operation, according to the digestion doctor that discovered the lady's problem. I wish you the best. I hope you feel better soon.

  2. Occasionally, a person who has had a cholecystectomy is diagnosed with a gallstone in the bile ducts weeks, months, or even years after the surgery.

You may want to make an appointment with your Dr to have that checked out.
