  1. This depends entirely on the surgery and your age. The swelling is due to the trauma your body underwent to make the proper repairs to its prior condition. If you had surgery on your digestive system, you limbs should not be swelling. However, surgery on your limbs should result in the swelling directly.


  2. depends on the surgery, but it is very normal for most surgeries.  Some people will have swelling in their feet for years after a severe ankle surgery.  I would verify this with your surgeon.  Hope this helps.
