The recruiting agency asked me to call myself the employer in order to have the phone interview. Normally, I was acustomed to have the employer call me and not the other way around.

  1. At times you might be asked to call the employer but you are right, it's not the norm.  When calling let the person that you are talking to who referred you to call and what agency that he/she works for.  I have always been informed if the employer doesn't call me at the time appointed then I should call me recruiter and let him know that the conversation didn't take place as scheduled.  I would question the recruiting company because most do no get paid unless you get hired so it would be in their best interest to set the appointment for you.  You might want to call your recruiter and ask te question of why you had to call and not him/her.  Good luck on the interview.
