Is it normal to hear a high-pitched screeching noise?

This noise I hear started god knows when and it never stops, even if my surrounding is quiet. The weird thing is that when I am near an electronical appliance that uses god knows what like DVD players or computers or TVs, the screeching noise is amplified, thus making me move away from my spot. And no I dont think its like that beethoven guys disease, or whatever he had. I dont hear sudden banging noises or anything, just a 24 hour high-pitched screeching noise. Any real doctors or people the same as me please, say something.

  1. Not a doctor.  Just have the same problem.  think it is called tinnitus>  don"t know what you can do about it>

  2. JUSt listen to some BURZUM, and you will feel much better, this I assure you.

  3. This MAY be tinnitus. Only an ENT (Ear/Nose/Throat) specialist AKA otolarynologist can diagnose...and, unfortunately, there is no cure. ...at least, at the present time.

Taking aspirin can sometimes cause it. Also sudden exposure to very loud sounds (rock concerts)

There's a lot of research going on right now. Try this website (National Institutes of Health agency)
