Is it normal to over-indulge a pet?

Is it indiciative of personal problems when people start treating their pet as they would a human child? I mean more than loving and taking good care of a pet, but when it goes into the extreme of dressing it in expensive clothing and carrying them in handbags? Or is it a perfectly normal display of affection?

  1. Do whatever the heck you want, as long as you don't mind the stigma attached.

  2. probably not "normal" but it's not against the law. i wouldn't put my animals in any type of constrictive device (purse, bag, etc.). sometimes i put old t-shirts on my golden retriever, but it's just because it's fun and she seems to like it xD not like i go out and BUY her clothes from DKNY or banana republic xDD

  3. I think it can actually be a bit cruel, I have two dogs and don't dress them up like Paris Hilton or Nicole Richie and they are just fine! All dogs need is love, a good home, food and lots of attention, they don't like wearing clothes. It might be fun to do it once for a joke but if you do it everyday it is really sad!! I wouldn't say it means that someone is going crazy, just a little extreme!!

  4. I love my kitties but wouldn't carry them about in a handbag that it just odd.

I wouldn't waste my money on animal clothes I give to animal charities.  I believe if you really were an animal lover you wouldn't spoil one pet but use the money to help other animals.

  5. You should never treat a dog like a human. The clothes you can dress them up in can cause them to overheat and handbags will just make them lazy. They wil also stop seeing you as the leader and take over the house.
