I was prescribed 20 mg oxy's and the past 2 day's all I do is throw up. I have a huge tolerence to opiates so what is going on? I can take 10 vicodins at a time and not feel sick at all. What do people see in oxy's and what the big deal is?

  1. theres no big deal...you didnt need to take that many for the pain...they only work when your in actual pain lol

  2. No!  It's not normal.  I recommend you call a 24-hour pharmacy and ask the pharmacist.  They are so smart, kind, and helpful.  Let the pharmacist guide you. I hope s/he will tell you to at least cut down to 1 until you see or talk to your doctor. d**n.  Of course it's the weekend.  Any pharmacist will guide you. Good luck!  :)

(EDIT) You asked the what the big deal is with oxy's. I tried everything for 9 years for nerve pain, and MSContin (Morphene) plus Fiorinal with Codeine is the only combination that has helped me live a normal life. I would think that oxycontin and MSContin are related.

  3. Uh, it's your body trying to keep you alive, since your brain isn't working.

  4. Pain killers can be very individual.  A small dose of morphine knocks my hubby for a loop....massive doses do nothing to me, never have.  However, a teeny dose of Dilodid (spelling?) can do wonders for me and nothing for him.  Each person finds "the one" when it comes to pain killers.

All pain killers, especially opiates, can cause nausea.  They slow down the movement of your digestive tract so you have a hard time processing food.  I'd try to cut back on your pain meds if possible and talk with your doctor about an anti-nausea medication that helps with digestive mobility like Reglan. (watch out because after long term use it can mess with your hormone levels and give you symptoms of pregnancy lol)  Phenergan works good for emergency nausea but can be very addictive so be careful.

In the meantime stick with bland, easy to digest foods.  Stay away from raw veggies or fruits, especially things like corn and peanuts.  Dairy can be rough if you havn't been eating much for a while.  The BRAT principle helps.  Banannas, rice, applesauce/apple juice, tapioca.  I personally never liked tapioca but for some reason it helps.

  5. First of all, why are you taking 10 vicodins? That's way too many. But, yes, nausea is a normal side effect of oxycontin (any many other pain medications).

  6. its a highly addictive drug and is very strong vics and oxys are distant cuzins and vics are not nearly as powerful ur puking cuz u are taking to much and it is very easy to od from id tell you to ask my uncle about it but he died from ODing on them. BE CAREFUL AND CALL YOUR DOCTOR!
