Mother Nature has a lot to say bout that; but, people and snowboards are not toys. Is there a good helmet wax in the market?

  1. The base of the board is going to get scratched no matter what you try to do to prevent it. If the scratches aren't to bad give it a good coat or two of wax. If the scratches are to deep for the wax to fill you can buy p-tex (permatex) sticks at your local ski/snowboard shop and fill with these. They can tell you how to do it. I always just used a hot glue gun for these. They even make special tips so the ptex goes on smooth. But if you do not feel comfortable doing this have the guys at the shop do it for you!  A little bit of sanding and a few  coats of wax and it is good as new. Hope this helped!

  2. It doesn't really matter.  Just wax it.

I have hit my share of rocks, and my boards always have some nasty gauges and scratches.  Sucks, but it comes with snowboarding.  My boards still go plenty fast to do what I need to do with a wax.

Fixing the big gauges is always a good idea, I'm just too lazy.  Go to a local shop and they can help you out (NOT a place like Garts or GI Joes)

And just regular little scratches don't matter much at all.

  3. It would be crazy to think that a snowboard base wouldn't get scratched.

Wax the board and you'll be fine.

  4. not really unless it gets really bad...wax it regularly if you get too deep of scratches it can slow you down .then melt some p tex in there scrape it finish it and wax and your ready to go....you have to mess with taking care of the bottom of your board....trial and error

  5. It does not really matter whether the base of a snowboard is scratched up or not unless you can tell a difference in your riding. If you just put some wax on the bottom it should be fine.

  6. as long as you dont have a core shot (the scratch goes through the entire base and into the core) it wont affect the strength at all
