Is it not cool to say "bye" before you hang up the phone anymore?

lol I just noticed this with a bunch of my friends who abruptly hang up the phone when we are done speaking. Even people whom I recently met do that. No "bye", no "cya", nothing. i don't know if i should consider it rude or what...

Hmmm. Don't know.  If I'm on a phone call and it has to end abrubtly,  I say or my friend says " Love ya'".  And hangs up.   And it's dead air. LOL.  But, if you are done speaking, then I don't see the problem.  The conversation is over and that's it.  I guess you can view it as being rude.  I wouldn't spend a second of thought on it though. When you call someone else's behavior or manners out, you run into nothing but trouble. Let it go and adapt.

no.  "bye" is reserved for the people you care most about and girls who youre either trying to date or think you may some day. "cya" is perfectly acceptable for all friends, or "later".  but just hanging up without any salutation is somewhat rude but not directly.    either way, its deffinitely cooler to give a "cya" "later" "peace" "go to h**l"... something, anything is cooler than just hanging up.

I say bye. But hey Im a girl we do that. But even when I talk on the phone with a guy they say bye so idk :)

Definitely rude. When my friends do that, I just continue to ramble on until I notice that I'm actually talking to no one.

Usually when I talk with my friends, we say goodbye 5 times before someone hangs up the phone.

How to solve this? (if you want it to be solved...) Set an example! You say goodbye or cya or whatever! Your friends might learn from you.
