Is it not illegal for a hiring manager to discriminate against a woman because she has 5 children?

It was always my understanding that it was illegal for the hiring manager of a company to discriminate against a woman applicant for a job because she has children or disabled children that may need more care.

Yet the Democrats would have us believe that we should discriminate against Sarah Palin because she has 5 children, one of whom has the disability of Down Syndrome.

Is this not inconsistent and hypocritical for the Democrats to say that we should discriminate against Sarah Palin who has children that need her care.

Not everyone who fills out an application for employment could become president this is a completely different situation.  I really can't see how an mother of 5 can be a good mother and run an entire country can't be done.  Especially if she has a child with special needs I know I've been there done that bought the t-shirt.  If her kids don't lose out the country will.  There just is no way.  A mother's care is different from a fathers.  Let's face it.  I would be worried for her children if she get elected

It is disingenuous to lump all Democrats together.  I know there are some crackpots out there who have claimed what you said, but the majority of Democrats don't think that way.

I think there is a valid concern about how Palin would prioritize her mother-hood duties with her VP duties, but personally I don't think that should disqualify her.

For the radical extreme left to say that Sarah Palin should stay home with her children and not run for the Vice Presidency of the United States of America is absolutely ridiculous.

It's not clear exactly what your question is.

I have not heard or read of one Democrat who has criticized Palin for having children. They have criticized her, however, for preaching abstinence only (meaning NO s*x education of any kind) and then having a pregnant 17-year old daughter. They have criticized her for asking a library director to allow for censorship when Palin was first elected Mayor. They have accused her of abuse of power, which is a legitimate complaint considering the facts of the case and the people and positions involved.  They have criticized her on whether or not she should be touting her "holier than thou" stance when she has a pregnant teen at home and a "special needs" child as well.

Regardless of where you stand, Palin does have political baggage and is under indictment for abuse of power and was nearly recalled as Mayor when she was serving in that office.

Um..you've been watching WAY too much Fox News propaganda. Democrats are not discriminating against Palin for having a large family. Where are you getting your news? Sarah Palin is a gun-toting, pro-life, manlady, and that is the problem. She will do absolutely NOTHING for the advancement of women, because she is a member of the party that is historically known for oppressing women. She should be discriminated against because she is NOT QUALIFIED AT ALL!!! Sure, you can say Obama isn't qualified but he has WAY MORE education under his belt, and 2 years as a senator. If Palin will be a HORRIBLE mother if she is elected VP doesn't that mean that Obama will be a HORRIBLE father if he is elected?

Does that mean that we should ONLY elect people with no children and kick them out of office because they can't spend as much time with their children because of their job?
