Is it odd for my friend to be so obsessed with ducks...?

she has a large obsession

and recently when we were out she made us stop and follow some ducks

is this normal?

LOL it sounds like she is 3 years old or something. It does not look abnormal to me.

A behavior becomes abonormal when it starts to damage the person's life or withraw it from its normal activities. For example, if she does not go to work just because she wants to stay home with her ducks. That is abnormal.

nothing to worry about honey, she just has a passion for them, i used to be obsessed with penguins, i had penguins every where even had cut out pictures of them, with my mum it was frogs, she had frogs everywhere, so everyone has passions and obsessions about something and ducks are quite a common one so don't be too worried, as she get older it will become slightly less and she will stop quacking, just except your friend for who she is and don't worry she will calm down but at  the moment her passion for ducks is at its height she will reach a stage where she will stop dragging you after ducks and it won't seem too bad, best of luck honey

I remember when I was living in Florida. My dad was always followed by this duck. It would try to follow him in the house and everything. I remember petting it when I was  3 in a garage. I miss that duck.

Well, I like ducks, and if it is abnormal, then so am I, but maybe I am not as obsessed as her and have to follow them.  Perhaps before you point the finger you should check out your own obsessions!

It's definitely normal. I'm obsessed with cows. I make my parents stop the car if we're driving and we see a whole bunch of cars just so I can roll down the window and stare at them. They're so darn cute. Especially the Highland cows. That and I love dogs so much I drive myself insane by caring for four of them at home. Every time I see even the ugliest dog someone can think of, I fawn over them and love all of their "imperfections". My friends tell me I'm weird sometimes but they also tell me that they don't mind it because that's what they love about me.

So yeah. It's totally fine for your friend to obsess over ducks. Just as long as she doesn't do something creepy or start showing signs of....insanity. (I'm not sure what I mean by that but I guess something along the lines of quacking like a duck and jumping in a pond. That is...if she can't swim and she's fully dressed or something like that.)
