Is it ok for a hamster?

Is it o.k. if i put my hamster in a hamster ball and then let it play outside in the ball rolling around?

yeah just watch out for it. my friend did that and the hamster got attacked by dogs and eaten

i suggest to make a small enclosed area to make sure he doesnt get anywhere where he/she can get lost or hurt. maybe put a few large wooden sticks around the area where he/she will play in.

Yes you can let your hamster be in her hamster ball for short periods of time provided -

1. The ball is not near a staircase or similar dangerous areas where it can roll down or fall and hurt your hamster.

2. There are no other pets in the vicnity who can harm your hamster.

3. The area is not too hot - the reason being balls can get very hot inside due to the small holes for ventilation and your hamster might feel very uncomfortable in it

4. Your hamster should not be in the ball without your supervision.

5. The area is not rocky or dirty.

6. Keep a close watch to ensure small insects or ants in outdoor areas do not get into the ball through the holes and irritate your hamster.

Yes and no. It is a possibility that it could get a flea or allergies with the grass. You never know. You can get flea medication though. Good luck!

No i dont think you should take your hammie outside. Its nice that you want to let him roam but things out side could harm or stress him out. Remeber, these hamster have been breed inside all there lives.

If you want to give it some nature, get some apple or orange branches that don't have pesticide on them. :)

hahaha yes of coarse ! as long as your watching it like a hawk. hahaha i sometimes even let my hamster go outside without a ball its just that i'm hovering over it like a hawk ;)

my hamster loves it and i'm sure yours will too ! just make sure the griounds not wet cos it gets annoying having to clean the ball 24/7 cos hes always rolling in mud. hahaha

yea u can. but make sure u watch it and make sure it doesnt eat anything thats on the floor, just in case its bad.

Agreed. Always supervise your hamster when it's in a ball, regardless of whether it is inside or outside, and especially when it is near stairs or any sort of sudden drop.

yes. I used to let my hamster outside in her ball but i kept a eye on her now that i have an apartment i just let her roll around the house.

it also gives your hamster exercise and fresh air

when i had a hamster i often put him in his ball

he loved it

&& also lived a longer life than the hamster i had before which didnt have a ball

ive read on the internet that some people say its animal cruelty but its not, how else are your supposed to keep your hamster fit & healthy other than a wheel

just as long as you keep a close eye on your hamster it'l be great :-) x
