Is it ok for a mother to leave their 15yr old daughters alone?

My mom has been doing this since last year when we were 15.

She would go to another town where my auntie lives and she would leave me and my sister with my cousins and she would leave with my auntie to go see their boyfriends. My cousin was 16 at the time and she knew how to drive. They would leave one of their cars so we use it. And we would go drink alcohol or just hangout with friends. My mom is still leaving but we don't drink anymore. Do you think its ok for her to still leave us alone? She didn't come home last night. But my dad did and he was pissed off because she left us.

  1. Well, it's fine if she leaves you for several hours.

But since she didn't come back, it's not okay.

  2. You may be old enough to leave alone legally but IMO it's irresponsible to leave teenagers for long periods of time without adult supervision.  I've raised teenagers and am well aware of all the things that could turn out badly, especially a teenager with a car (YIKES). I hope your father steps up and makes arrangements for you and your sister while your mother is off dating. You sound responsible and I hope things get better for you. Good Luck.

  3. I think that leaving 16 yr olds alone over night is not wise. Your dad should be upset. Leaving 16 yr olds for a few hours in the day is no big deal. If your mother is worried about her boyfriends, then she should arrange for you to have a sleepover at a girlfriends house or stay with your relatives for a night if she wants to take a night out of town.

  4. Maybe you should tell your  dad about their boyfriends

  5. you are old enough to stay by yourselves for a day but congratulations on stopping the drinking as it is a sure way for girls to have serious problems with guys

does your dad know that your mom has a bf? as that can cause you more grief than anything else

  6. Hope your dad rakes her over the coals takes all the car keys and your driver's licenses.I would, then I would tell mom she goes NOWHERE until I get home.

Your mother is a very stupid woman I hate to have to say. What if you had been in a wreck after drinking?

Or what if something else had happened? No one would have known where you were or where your mom was.

If your mom is cheating on your dad, tell him he hasthe right to know so he can kick her worthless butt out.

  7. Yes it is okay. The fact that YOU and your cousin chose to drink is your fault, you're lucky you didn't get caught by the police, you would have been charged and your parents will not be held responsible.  The law figures that by age 15 you know the difference between right and wrong and if you make the wrong choices that is your problem, however if any property were to have been destroyed, or injury to other persons happen your parents could be sued in civil court, while you will be placed into jail.  But yeppers it is okay, at 15 you are not under the age of 14

  8. Yes it is ok for her to leave you. Most states have no laws that say what age children can be left alone. Its completely up to the parents, when they think you are responsible enough to stay alone without tearing up the house or getting into trouble.

Your dad may have just been mad cause he was worried you would do something stupid like drink and drive. Hmm.....

  9. If your dad was pissed, then YAH.
