  1. Rice cereal would be the only thing Id give him make it with some breast milk. But if he is gaining weight then hes getting enuf.

  2. It all is up to you and your comfort level.  Everyone says 4-6 months, but thats just the average.  My baby girl is 3 months old and she has had apple juice mixed with water and puereed prunes because she gets constipated.  She has yet to have any oatmeat/rice ceral because I don't want to cause more constipation but I'm sure she would take to it well.

She really loves the prunes and apple juice.  You can always consult your peditrician if you are worried.  Good Luck

  3. Most people say he is too young. The thinking about that changes from time to time though 3 months old has always been on the young side for anything other than milk. I'm not sure what you mean by "soft foods," anyway -- rice cereal is usually the first food to be introduced -- somewhere between 4 and 6 months old. I'm sure that if you are breastfeeding him on demand, and he is content generally, that he is getting enough. That's just the way it works. By now -- your bodies are in tune and your body is providing his body with what it needs. He can suck really hard by now and get what he needs quickly and when he is not particularly hungry he just won't want that much. And when he is hungrier, he will suck hard enough to get what he needs -- and your body will produce it accordingly.
