  1. I dont think its good for them cuz of the dye on it. U should use a different bedding.

  2. probably not, I am pretty sure that the ink in newspaper is toxic depending on how much you take in. it may be normal considering they like to chew things, and I would use something else besides newspaper.

  3. Call your newspaper office and ask them what type of ink they use in their newsprint.  Most likely it's soy ink, and that kind is safe for cavies to chew on.  Do not give them glossy ads.  Mine chew on their newspaper all the time.  You can also give them paper towel rolls or non-scented, non-colored toilet paper rolls to chew on.

My sow particularly likes poptart boxes too.

  4. i dont think so

  5. They probably just tear it up for something to do.  I have never used newspaper in my guinea pigs cage, but I give him a cardboard box to hide in (he out grew his plastic house) and he does chew on it.  It has never seemed to hurt him, he is 3 years old and big, fat and very healthy.

I would worry about the ink on the news paper though, maybe you could try putting brown paper bags under his bedding instead of news paper.
