  1. Is it OK? No. Have we all done it? Yes. If you learn to drink in moderation, you are much less likely to become either a binge drinker or an alcoholic.

  2. MINORS ARE NOT MATURE ENOUGH TO DRINK.

    THEY ARE WORST THAN ADULTS.

  3. depends on what you mean by drinking.  if you're talking about hanging with your friends and slamming beers, then no, it's not ok.  if you are at your parents home and eating at the dinner table with your family and they allow you to have a glass of wine with a bit of water, then yes, it's ok.  many children of italian descent are raised by this practice and don't grow up to abuse alcohol.  you must think of alcohol as something to be enjoyed with your meal, as part of the meal.  not just to be consumed to get drunk.

  4. If you're ready to die, you can drink at any age.

  5. I think it would be acceptable to have a couple drinks provided no further laws are broken (drunken driving, trespassing, assault).

21 is a high age, there's only a couple other countries that have such a law.  And they're very often undeveloped, socially backwards, overtly religious states.  Japan and Iceland are both 20, and not the countries I'm referring to.

I think a drinking age of 18 makes sense, but at this point is impratical to implement.  I feel the major cause of underage drinking is simply to break the law and get hammered.  Yeah, that's great and all, but seriously, once those kids turn 21 the allure of getting hammered disappears.  Somehow now that you can just go to the store and buy it, it's not as fun.  In the US we have let MADD go too far.  First, their mission sounds nice and I'm not saying that it isn't sad kids are dying because of their decisions, but you have to recognize that underage drinking isn't being stopped because of the 21 law.  So, what is your real goal?  You've failed.  Recognize that, move on to strategy B.  Educate kids from a younger age about alcohol.  And I don't mean tell them "Alcohol will kill you if you drink it.  Some people who drink it will also kill others.  Your mother will die if you drink it.  Any amount will get you drunk, and God will hate you."  Too often, that's not too far from the truth kids hear.  Rather, "Here's what alcohol does to you.  This is what people will feel after drinking alcohol.  Depending on your weight, you can drink this much without getting drunk.  If someone passes out, make sure they don't die by helping them."  Just read the posts here for a day and you'll notice lots of kids have no idea how much to drink.  Is 2 beers going to get me drunk?  I drank a keg last night, was I drunk?  How do I split a bottle of vodka with my fat friends?  My friend had 4 beers and passed out, should I help them?  If I drink 3 beers will I have a hangover?  It's annoying, and very simple math, and should be taught in health class.

  6. the only reason it is not ok is cuz u can get caught

other then that...i think itz totally ok itz ur decision.just dont get caught :D

  7. In my opinion, yes it is.

I'm going to make several generalizations, so just bear with me.

I look at Europeans and their drinking (excluding the Irish (Just kidding, I'm part Irish)).  Take a look at Italian families. Every meal traditionally involves a glass of wine. This, to them is drinking. Go through out Europe and this is what you will find. Drinking in moderation on a daily basis, just as natural as us drinking water or coffee.

Now look at American drinking habits. For the most part, this can be broken down into two groups. Alcoholics, and weekend "instant idiots- just add alcohol." Too many people drink to get drunk.

The problem does not lie in the age one begins drinking, but with the habits they form when they begin drinking. If weekend  binge drinking is how one learns to drink, that is how one will continue to drink.

  8. no its not OK they have reasons for this stuff its because you could actually get too drunk and get out of control it is Important to live life to the full but the law is the law and as I'm concerned there is nothing we can do besides you could have one night stands and get a girl pregnant then get into trouble so i recommend no. its not you that starts this beer thing for instance who drinks beer in your family it makes your more intrigued to start drinking and also watching

Eastenders its like they live in the pub! i have to say when you are the first to drink beer you are therefor the worst.

i dont drink i mean i never thought much of beer until you asked.

  9. yeah,i started when i was underage and theres nothing wrong with me ^_>

  10. Of course it's ok as long as you don't drink and drive. I just turned 21 and I have been drinking since I came to college. Just make sure that you dont get too out of hand because boys will take advantage of you!!

  11. never

  12. nope, not in america, it's illegal, and can cause more accidents, then there already are, and of course theres enough of those every day.

  13. Oy. Why do some people automatically equate alcohol with certain death? As long as you drink responsibly, I really don't see the problem with it. If alcohol wasn't such a restricted substance here, we wouldn't have as many problems with it. I know it'll never happen here, but if young adults here were taught to treat alcohol with the same respect that young adults over in Germany (for example) were taught, it wouldn't be as big of a deal. A person can do just as much harm to themselves with common, everyday household items as they can with alcohol.

Bottom line: (As with anything, really,) Don't be a dumb@$$  =]
