  1. No, you shouldn't do that.

Even just a little warmth can melt the frosting and cause it to run and become watery.

    Just wait until it cools.

  2. No its not ok....cake needs to cool down for one hour without any drafts.

  3. It will end up being more of a glazed cake rather than a frosted cake.

  4. No.  Pop the cake in the fridge for a little while to speed it up but the cooler the better.  If your cake is above room temp it will melt the icing and make a big ol mess.

  5. The frosting may melt into/off the cake.

Best to wait until it is cooled completely.  If you want to hurry it along place it in the refrigerator for a bit.  But make sure there is air circulation around it so that it does not get soggy on the bottom.  (we all hate soggy bottoms don't we?)

  6. The warmth of the cake will melt the frosting somewhat--the hotter the more it melts, obviously.  But if that is how you like it, go for it.

  7. It depends on the type of frosting.

Butter based or whip-cream/heavy cream styles will melt and get runny.

Sugar frosting usually holds up pretty well.

As already noted, any warm cake might tear or crumble so you have to use extra thin frosting and a lot of care.

  8. Some "pitfalls" that may occur...

    1.  Frosting may be too cold & the cake too hot, so the frosting may melt and separate when applied to the cake's surface.

    2.  Because the cake may be too hot, the cake may be so tender that when you frost, you may tear the surface of the cake.

However, those two warnings may not happen at all since it all depends how hot the cake is and how cold your frosting is...

I know it's tempting though just to quickly frost the cake & get it over with, so that the fun tasty cake-eating can begin!

  9. The frosting will melt into the cake, and be gross. Wait for it to cool down.
