I have two amps, i have not hooked them up yet because i want to know what size wire i should use. One amp is a hifonics 400 watt 2 channel. the other amp is a hifonics 750 watt monoblock amp. i have a 4 gauge wire kit that my friend gave to me. My question is, should i use the 4 gauge kit? If i used it would anything bad happen? what gauge kit would you recommend? Thanks for the help!!

  1. Run 1/0 AWG from the battery to the distribution block, then you could use the 4/0 AWG.  Otherwise you will have headlights that dim to the bass, and you'll probably need a new alternator in 6 months.

  2. i dont understand, do you think the wire is to big? there is nothing bad about your wire being big other then trying to fit it in your car and amp. 4 guage wire would be fine for that set up, more then enough power for the amps.

if you go to sparkys page he has a link to an excel sheet that will let you know what min. guage you can use.

  3. no that would be bad you need to get 1/0 gauge wire
