  1. If you have your stock ecu. You should be fine with using 89 octane.  The GSR has a knock sensor that will sense detonation, if it occurs and the ecu will start retarding the the timing to keep it from detonating the only problem is retarding the timing will reduce the power output of the engine but it wont matter much since your only commuting with it.  Hope this helps good luck.

Just when your using below 91 octane.  You can do it like Roger and run 91 on the weekends or when you go the the track.  The stock ECU  is good at adjusting to this so go ahead and use lower octane fuel for the daily drive and up the octane for fun.

  2. I personally did this when commuting when I had a LsV in my integra.

I wouldnt go lower than 89 and wouldnt pump cheap gas, always Shell,Chevron and mainly Mobil.

on the weekends i would pump 101 and look for victims in city streets. lol

  3. The Gs-R calls for Unleaded grade gasoline, 91 research octane number or higher (this is from acura). You need a higher grade gasoline for it, to resist pre-ignition. I have had numerous vtec cars and have always ran 91+ octane and never have had a problem. But its your car, so its up to you. Just giving my opinion. I would stick to what the Manuf. says, its not like they are going to make up what grade of gasoline your car has to have.
