Is it ok if your tortoises skin peel?

i have a hermann tortoise aged about 1 yearand i have seen her skin peeling so i was wondering is it ok

  1. yes this is fine, i have a hermann myself and a friend who has hermanns too told me to rub olive oil onto their shells to stop then cracking. not sure if it works though


  2. yes tortoises do peel but not in large sheets like some reptiles it tends to come off in small pieces, don't pull the skin off but a good soak in a small bath sometimes helps to remove old skin, but most the time the shell does not peel best of luck honey  

  3. Hi, krisa49, Yes it's perfectly natural. This means that they are healthy and that they are growing. It's best not to help them peel or shed but you can soak them in a small dish of warm water about an inch deep, the water should only come up to about chin height.
