Question:

Is it ok (legal) to drive a car without its bumper?

My car was involved in an accident 2 days ago. The at fault driver took out my entire bumper at an intersection. Thank goodness the person had insurance and it looks like it will be taken care of (their insurance adjuster will be looking at it tomorrow). The car is driveable and is my only means of transportation. Since then, I've been driving the car with no bumper. I removed the license plate and attacthed it to the bare-rear end. So far, police haven't hasseled me, but I don't have the time for them to have an excuse to pull me over.

I understand it can be safety issue, but want to know if it's illegal to drive the car under CA DMV regulations? All inputs are appreciated?
