  1. its totally fine to be nervous!

you just have to keep doing it.

the saying practice makes perfect really applies to this.

the more you practice the better youll get!

and steering will be easy eventually!

  2. If you have an instructor, he or she can work with you by lounging you.  Sitting the trot, taking your feet out of the stirrups, & posting this way can strengthen your legs.  Picking up your stirrups without looking etc.

If you do not have an instructor and trying to learn on your own..Visualize which diagonal you are on without looking.  Learn to feel the horse's stride and which leg he is picking up,   You say you are having trouble steering and guiding the horse so I suggest you use a round pen if you have one.  If you don't, try to ride along side of a fence at first   The fence will help you guide the horse when riding in a straight line until you get the hang of it.  Do not jerk on the horse's mouth when you post.  Lots of beginners do this without even knowing it.  Good luck.

  3. its OK to be nervous when i start i was nervous but i ride western but it is the same thing and it builds a lot of muscles

  4. When you get nervous take some deep breaths. Let them out slowly, this will help relax your back and tummy. When you get stiff you will get an off balance feeling and get nervous, also your arms will be stiff which won't help you steer. Just let the horse bounce you, no need to work too hard at it. Relax and have fun :)

  5. wat?

  6. Yeah it's totally normal! It will become second nature to you after a while.

If you feel insecure, remember that you can always "lock" you calves on the horse. Then you're not going anywhere!

  7. yea im just taking riding lesson and my teacher says it find

im not scared any more .

if you take 10 lessons you will be over it.

and the shorter ur horse the faster you will get over it. hope this helps.

  8. Yep... Perfectly normal to be a little nervous. The more you do it the better you'll feel.

  9. Yes it is completely normal I mean I know come on instead of staying nice and comfy in the saddle you are in teh air every other beat! Take it from someone who couldn't post very well be cause of being nervous for 2 months!
