  1. YES!  My whole family had the flu a few years ago, and due to the transfer of my antibodies in breastmilk, my little baby boy was far and away the least sick of all of us.  I was particularly worried about him being so small and getting sick, but two thumbs up for mama's milk!

  2. no, you could transfer the infection, but keep pumping and discarding the milk so you won't lose your supply you can restart 24 hrs after fever is gone

  3. Yes! You will pass the antibodies on to your baby to prevent him/her from getting sick as well. I had the flu when my son was 2wks old, he didn't even get a sniffle.

  4. It is most important that you keep breastfeeding!

Your baby has already been exposed to the germs that caused you to get sick.  If you continute nursing, you will pass on the antibodies that your body has created to fight off your sickness on to him.  If you don't nurse him, he'll get sick (sicker, if he is already sick) and won't have the added benefit of the antibodies you've created in your body.

  5. Don't listen to Oafgirl it is ok to breastfeed when you yourself is sick it helps to keep your baby from getting sick.
