Question:

Is it ok to connect a powered speaker to a powered mixer?..were to plug the speakers?..?

i have a powered mixer and 2x600 4-8 ohms speaker, and i wwant to add a powered speaker..the mixer has 2 main output(L & R) and 4 speaker outputs(2 XLR and 2 1/4 plugs).. were do i connect the powered speakers and ordinary ones?..pls help i know nothing bout this, im afraid experimenting would blow my mixer amps..

  1. First off, do not plug the powered speakers into the speaker plugs on your mixer.  This will fry electronics in your speakers.

    The XLR outputs are probably your best bet without knowing your mixing console.  The outputs may be on a submaster or monitor mix however, depending on the board.  The XLR plug will not fry your speaker, so try that.

    Your non-powered speakers should be plugged into a 1/4 inch or Speakon plug.  You only have 1/4 inch so its going to be those.  Again, no harm can be done if this does not work, so feel free to try that.
