Question:

Is it ok to dance at weddings and stuff?

For Muslim men and women but especially for Muslim women because they usually dance more, so at functions like weddings, engagements, birthday parties, etc is it Islamically acceptable for Muslim women to dance? Obviously in front of Muslim women only... Because they're dancing to music, usually it's Bollywood music, and isn't that type of music considered haraam? Some practising Muslim sisters that I asked about this dancing (and they are the ones who say music is haraam) said it's ok to dance to music on weddings because it's a time of joy/to celebrate and you're allowed to celebrate/express your happiness like this... Is this correct?

Thanks for any help, may Allah bless you all.

  1. Yeah what about the cameraman and all the next gals you get recording with their own cameras and mobile phones, then they go home and show them to their manz and brothers and that... Or even if they don't show their manz, someone might just "accidentally" come across the video...

  2. Haraam to Dance, especially infront of men, Even infront of woman, because you could encourage or show others that it is okay to dance, when it is not. You are suppose to be modest, and show you are a good muslim by not doing what shaytaan wants you to do. Remember most music is haraam as it doesnt praise allah, the only music halal is music that praises allah and the prophet ( and only has 1 drum beat and no other instruments) Check Hadith Bukhari.

Those woman (your muslim sisters) are sinners and are not correct, they are still weak in deen and havent done enough research in Islam to see why it is haraam. Do not listen to them, the prophet also said there will be liers and hypocrites in the ummah. They COULD be one of them and trying to lead you away from God, though they may say allah is great infront of you, they may have an evil plot in heart as said by prophet muhammad pbuh in sahih bukhari/muslim and tirmidhi.

Salaam, you need any help ask me.

  3. I've never seen any proof that it is haram to dance. I see nothing wrong with dancing with muslim women only and as long as it is not inappropriate. The music should of course also be decent and not filled with foul language. What is wrong with having a good time if you are not thinking bad things, doing bad things, tempting any one? You are with your female friends, why not celebrate? This question also touches whether music is haram or not. I believe that as long as the music is not causing you to do/think bad things, and if it is appropriate, there is nothing wrong with it.  My opinion, peace.

  4. Well Islamically Its not acceptable ! But cultural wise  It is acceptable !

So Go and Move ur Curvy Back on those Bollywood Beats !

  5. Its haraam to dance!!!

  6. There is nothing wrong with dancing in front of women only, it only becomes a problem when the women around are not very trustworthy and tell others about it  particularly men. how you dance, how you looked etc. And yes celebrations such as weddings make music okay because it is a time of celebration, there is a hadith on that.

  7. dancing is fine, but not like u know "bad" or "Dirty" dancing

  8. A salam alykum bro.. it is fine to dance in front of women only.. but NOT to music.. music is haram in any circumstance.. the only music that is not haram is the music that is made to make it easy for people to learn about islam.. but this music does not include any instruments.. it is fine for the women to dance but not with music.. otherwise they will be disobeying Allah.. Baraka alahu feeki.. a salam alykum wa rahmatullah

  9. No it is not acceptable and it is not allowed.

  10. In Islam dancing is haram.. In America dancing is one of the beautiful things about a wedding!!!! !

  11. If you are fully clothed ,then yes.

Muslim men ,as we all know , are stimulated by the merest glimpse of bare flesh or a man/woman moving in a certain way.Hence the need for hijab in countries that began with Islam.

So it is safest for you to never dance unless you are in a room on your own , with out lights on and you promise not to film yourself and then post to "manz dem".
