Is it ok to drink alcohol while taking magnesium citrate??

i took some mag. citrate a couple hours ago for my constipation and i just wanted to know if it was ok for me to drink- not much- just a bottle...

  1. Drinking alcohol isn't going to help your constipation any..  But magnesium citrate is extremely strong -- so I don't see why drinking a beer would be harmful.  Go ahead maybe it'll relax you and ease some of your discomfort.

    In other words : they don't conflict.   Now, if you'd drank an entire bottle of mag. citrate before surgery or something I'd say.. heck no to the alcohol because you'd already be fighting dehydration.  But since I assume this is casual use -- no harm really.


  2. alcohol is a natural dehydrater and it would worsen the constipation.  I wouldn't consume any alcohol until the constipation clears up.  Goodluck.

  3. Adding alcohol which itself can make you tipsy and uncomfortable to an a discomfort already caused by constipation, would definitely worsen rather than help your situation. I would allow time for the effect of the magnesium citrate to be felt before taking alcohol of any quantity or any proof.
