Is it ok to eat a banana if its gone black?

So i've got this banana. Brought it like maybe a week ago. Its gone well pretty much black, but on the inside its still yellow andnot bruised...just a bit soft. Is it still ok to eat?

Your banana is ripe and maybe a bit past prime, but perfectly okay to eat. You may want to avoid waiting so long to eat them next time.

Myself, when my bananas get to that black stage and become overly soft, will make banana bread or muffins with them.

I take overripe bananas, peel them, wrap in plastic and put in the freezer. Instead of using ice I use the frozen bananas in smoothies. They never turn black in the freezer and they work better than ice in my opinion.
