I'm just wondering because they say to eat after about an hour after a work out, but is the same for protein bars? Would having one help recovery?

  1. Protein bars are great when you're on the go and don't have time for a protein shake.

Taking a protein SHAKE after a workout is one of the best ways to help build your muscles after a workout.

They're also more nutritious and affordable than protein bars, but there's still nothing that beats a substantial protein rich meal.

Your diet is also going to vary depending on what you are trying to achieve. Are you trying to build strength, endurance or just trying to look good?

Protein is the building blocks to life, but you still want to ratio what you take take in. I've heard of the 30-30-40 diet (which is 30% fat, 30% carbohydrates and 40% protein).

Then it starts to get complicated, carbs that don't get used as energy turns into body fat, but energy required without carbs  gets taken from body fat (the recent low carb diet craze from a few years ago).

I can go on, but to get back to your original question, yes it's ok to eat a protein bar after a workout.

  2. Take it less than an hour after you work out. It takes time for solid food to digest, and you need the protein at MOST an hour after working out, for it to be really effective.

Take it immediately after working out.

  3. buy the mix such as muscle milk.

    its much better.

i would think taking it b4 is better. read the wrapper mate

  4. yea protein before and after a work out is always good

  5. yeah. glutamine and whey protein are good for recovery
