I'm vegetarian and haven't had pancakes in forever but I was wondering if I could eat the Log Cabin sugar-free syrup with my pancakes? Some have told me no and others yes. I'm unsure now.

  1. Maple syrup is made using a defoaming agent which is made up of fat.  Some companies may use animal fat for this process and others may use plant fats.  If it has a kosher symbol on the bottle it's probably from plant sources.  To know for sure you should call the company with the 800 number on the back and hopefully they can answer your question.

  2. Not sure but it's mentioned on this vegetarian site:

    http://www.vegsource.com/talk/diabetes/m...

I went to the manufacturers website:

    http://www.logcabinsyrups.com/

But it doesn't work on my browser... maybe it says on there for you?

  3. yes you can eat it. its just chemicals

  4. I am a former chef, a vegetarian and a Type 2 diabetic, I make one with Brown Splenda and pure maple extract, and use it for pancake which are whole grain and high fiber, mind you I only have these on rare occasions but the safety of the sugar free syrup is fine, I had used on here in Canada made with concentrate apple and grape juice and a mix of real maple syrup and flavours.

Check the label if I am not correct you will se the base is a fruit juice concentrate.

  5. Put apple sauce and cinnamon on your pancakes instead. It tastes better and is healthier than syrup.

  6. If you are still unsure you can always use Agave Nectar...

Agave Nectar is substituted for syrups by vegans and is a great substitute!

  7. If your asking if it is vegetarian/vegan - it is last time I looked - unless you are getting the one with butter in it.

    -BUT-

If your asking if I personally would do so myself or suggest that someone else do so - *NO*.  After looking into the questionable safety of the sweetener used - side effects - even if I was a diabetic, I wouldn't use it and would just forgo any sugar at all.

Last part - my view and opinion - for what it is worth.
