Is it ok to feeed your guinea pig molasses?

Hi there. I found a "make your own guniea pig food" collum on the web and it said that there is molasses in it.... wondering if i is okay to feed to my guinea pigs?

  3. Hmmm...well they don't usually eat stuff like molasses in the wild. If you do make this, I would suggest giving it as a TREAT only, because I'm sure large quantities of molasses wouldn't be good for your cavies. They should have an endless supply of hay, and be offered fresh fruits, though not too many because they could get diarrhea. But I would say that they can have the food with molasses, just not too much.

  4. I would say no.  Too much sugar can cause the gut to get out of balance.  Avoid any sugary foods.  Good luck to you and your piggy!  :)
