Is it ok to feel g-force in a Robin 200 whilst doing a 60 degrees turn when I want to be a Red Arrow Pilot?

  1. As long as you experience increased G-Force you should feel it.  There would be a problem if you didn't feel it.  Good luck with the pilot thing!

  3. If you are referring to a 60 degree bank angle in a level turn, the physics of the matter dictate that one will feel 2 G's pulling you down in the seat.  That's quite normal no matter what aircraft you are flying.

    You can calculate the G's for any level turn by the following method:

    Find the cosine of the bank angle, then calculate the reciprocal which gives the G-force.  Eg.,  Cos 60 = 0.5, 1/0.5 = 2 G's

    I suspect that Red Arrow, Thunderbird, Blue Angel, etc., pilots experience G's 2-3 times greater than that on a regular basis.
