Is it ok to get a tattoo the same day I run a marathon?

I'm going to be in the same city as my favorite tattoo artist over a long weekend when I plan to run a marathon. Is there any good reason I can't run 26.2 in the morning and get a tattoo in the evening?

The marathon will likely compromise your immune system somewhat. This can impact healing from the tattoo as well as from any potential infections/allergies that could occur.

In addition, your bloodflow might still be somewhat different than usual, resulting in potentially different skin in the evening from "normal." If nothing else, this might change the canvas from its normal appearance, so a tattoo that looks fine at the time looks more different than usual later.

I'd probably ask the tattoo artist directly for their thoughts in advance, or at the very least make sure they know at the time what your situation is before they start.
