  1. Yes. Formula fed babies can have a little bit of water. Only 1/2 oz or so. The advice you will get depends upon where you live. In England we are told that formula fed babies may need a little bit of cooled boiled water. No more 1/2 oz and only once or twice a day. This is only if it is needed for example if your baby is constipated. Breats fed babies do not need water.

  2. There is no need to introduce water until your baby starts eating solid foods. All they need between birth and 6 months is breast milk or formula.

  3. you dont say why for and if its by itself or with the formula

i put an extra 10mls in each of my little girls bottles due to constipation sometimes even 20 mls but that was with permission of doc so if thats why then just check with doc first or give your maternal health nurse a call it could be less as your little one is younger

or if its hot where you are then yes but after you have fed her first

otherwise i wouldnt bother unless there is a reason

  4. NO, not in the least bit.  a baby of 3 months does not have kidney's running at full capacity.  its called water intoxication!  too much water dilutes a baby's normal sodium levels and can lead to seizures, coma, brain damage and death.  they say its ok at the very earliest of one years old!    Your child gets all that they need from breast milk or formula.  anything else is taking too much of a risk.

    here's a link I found too.  http://www.stlouischildrens.org/tabid/88...

  5. yep, if its hot and she is a bit dehydrated then giving water is fine, just boil it and then cool it first, but unless its hot she doesnt really need it all she needs is in her breastmilk or formula for the moment

  6. you don't have to because I know that formula gets broken back down so the baby gets the water from it. If it is hot outside I would say yes only a ounce or two couldn't hurt.

  7. It's interesting that you've gotten such a wide range of responses.  I did not because I figured if he was thirsty, I would just nurse him (or give formula if that's what you are doing).  The point of formula and breast milk for a newborn is not only nutrition, but also for hydration.

I would check with your pediatrician first.

  8. yes its okay just not to much so the baby doesnt get full off of just water,

  9. Sure is. It is best to boil the water first, then cool it  and bring it back to room temperature before giving to bubs.

  10. Yes but make sure its the baby water most docs say to give them a bottle with water in it at night anyways to prevent dental caries(cavities caused by the bottle filled with formula  or brest milk allowed to sit over night.)

  11. At three months you really don't need to give her water in a bottle. You already mix in water with her formula (or there is already water in breastmilk) so there is no need for additional water. If you must, you can feed her some with a spoon. Just remember, her tummy is the size of her fist. You don't want that filled up with water.

  12. yes! ur ment to b giving ur bubby water to keep him/her hydrated make sure u boil it first
