  1. what did the vet adviced you to do? for first aid home remedies you could TRY using a washcloth with vinegar. Put vinegar to the washcloth and wipe it all over his head and body and you could also TRY feeding him sugar. your dog might be dehydrated, you could also TRY to let him drink a solution of water with sugar or maybe let him drink oral hydrite. i know that your dog would stink after wiping him with the vinegar, but you could at least TRY, there's nothing left for you to lose. try to go to the vet after so that he could check him up again.

i hope your dog will recover soon.

  2. Your best bet is just take him back to the vet.  Keep feeding him what you have been giving him.   The ensure and cottage cheese should help him from getting too weak and getting low blood sugars.  You can also try cooling him down by putting cold compresses around his neck area and belly.  I have had to do this with dogs many times with the vet I work with.   Keep him out of the draft, and keep him hydrated.  Force the fluids , if you have to, with a syringe.  Be sure to get him back to the vet asap.  Read my profile.

  3. also make sure you give him water
