i know they have syrup in them. these are those dole fruits cups in light syrup. my son sometimes rejects fresh fruits like strawberries, peaches. the only thing he will always accept to eat fresh is bananas et blueberries. he is 16 months and recently i started giving him canned pears, peaches so he can have his daily servings of fruits, he doesn't like vegetables that much. he can eat carrots and fries and that's it.

i heard that canned fruits sometimes are better than fresh that sits in store for a while and also spends some times in transit and in our fridge.

i tried frozen peaches and he wasn't that crazy about it.

thanks

  1. Hi,

I sometimes give Rosie(1yr) canned fruit as that is sometimes all we've got, plus fresh peaches and strawberries can be sour.

Fruit and veg are good for them and provide them with essential vitamins and also helps prevent constipation.

Rosie also eats most of what we do and I don't consider her too young, so go with what you are comfortable with and if your little one is happy, then you are too!!!

My health visitor advised on plenty of fruit last week as Rosie was constipated and believe me that is far worse than too much fruit.

  2. My kids really like the Dole "No Sugar Added" fruit.  They eat bananas, apples, grapes as well and we buy the Dole peaches and pears.  Good luck :)

  3. Canned fruits and veggies are no diiferent than fruit cups or veggie cups. You need to start weening him from so much fruit though. Too much of it can cause cavities. He isn't too young to begin feeding him what you are eating and if he chooses not to eat it, then don't give him anything else. He won't starve and he will eat when he is hungry enough. If you continue to give him only what he will eat, he will become a picky eaty and you will become a mother that cooks 5 different meals for dinner just so your family will eat. Stop it now before it gets out of control.

  4. That's great that he is eating fruit, but you should try adding some pieces of fresh fruit to the canned fruit, so he gets used to the taste, then you can wean him off of the canned fruit, and he will like the fresh fruit.

Also, if you look in the aisle with the baby food, you can find pouches of freeze dried fruit. They are bite size, and they taste great! They even have the same nutriotional value as a piece of fruit. My son loves them, although he doens't like the dried strawberries, but loves fresh ones.
