  1. It depends on the type of sail boat. If they are only going as a passenger or light crew work expected, then it should be ok. If it is a very athletic boat or the weather is rough, maybe you should wait.

  2. OK first of all yes you can go sailing but i would not recomend it! There is no point in going to the doctor because there is nothing you can do for it besides take it easy and throw back a few pain meds! They will just x-ray it and send you home! I would not going sailing! But if your friend decides to go just make sure you have that rib protected really good so it doesnt get worse! That would just be an even longer recovery you dont need! Its better to relax for a few weeks so you can enjoy sailing without the pain! Sailing will always be there but the pain in the ribs wont! So i would suggest not to go. Hope this helps! Tell your friend to feel better!

  3. All weather and skill level dependant.

If your new to sailing - then your not gona know what the boats likely to do, and where to stay out of trouble. If you've been doing it for years, then you'll know what to do

If it's any type of weather apart from 10 knts, flat sea's and sunny then, your friend will struggle again.

If your cruising go for it - racing, wouldn't risk it, I always come back battered and bruised, even in less than 10kts - and I have know idea how it happened. With broken ribs, your bound to make it worse and increase recovery time needed.
