  1. baguio is always a romantic place. its only jam packed during summer. off-season the place is quiet.

  2. I think those months are just fine to go to Baguio except of course for the sporadic rains as I've mentioned on my previous post. If you want a really romantic place, I suggest staying at the Manor Hotel at Camp John Hay.

  3. why? so that you can wear your leather jacket, sweater or London Fog raincoat?!

  4. Baguio is actually more romantic on the rainy months, or during that brief lull from the typhoons.

September is "Indian Summer" and there is typically an interlude from the storms. Yet there is no guarantee that there will absolutely be no rain. But that, to me, is not a problem.

I have been to Baguio countless times even before I set up my vacation place there. I have been up in Baguio through all the seasons, and it is wonderful when there is rain (not a typhoon). We in fact walk in the rain with our umbrellas. And raincoats.

Imagine walking in thick fog, while drizzling. That is an experience that is worth remembering. My brothers and I have photos of ourselves in ponchos, sweaters and umbrellas while walking around Burnham Park, and only we knew it was taken in there because the thick fog makes it impossible to see from the photo whereshot was taken! Now, imagine this scenario with you and your loved one holding hands, close to each other, while walking in thick fog in the rains. Romantic, isn't it?

It is also nice to stroll down Session Road when there's a bit of rain, and buy grilled corn on the cob from sidewalk vendors. And munch on the hot, fresh-from-the-charcoal corn while walking.

And others might find it ridiculous, but we even buy some ice cream and l**k on them while going around - - - and feel even colder. More romantic if you share one ice cream cone!

Most of all, I Baguio at this time has a lower migrant population. It feels like the Baguio of old, without the horde of people from Manila and nearby towns all trooping to this magnificent place in "better days".

If I happen to be there when you visit, I could serve you some "salabat" (ginger brew) in my house, to comfort you from the cold. Please email me if you want to drop by.

  5. Yes. its ok to go to Baguio on those months. Just stay in your hotel or home if the rain comes for quite sometime.

  6. yep - try ridgewood inn (near the Mansion). quiet and romantic. Look at Asiarooms.com. they have a website, rates, pics., reviews, etc.
